Abercrombie & Fitch in the news!

edge mobile hair reports on Abercrombie and Fitches news rules for staff hairstyles

The A&F style police strike again

Remember the outcry against Abercrombie & Fitch’s ban on bigger customers wearing their clothes?

Seems the chain’s fashionista CEO has issued new, strict guidelines for how staff can wear their hair. Apparently, unnatural or overly coloured styles are out and tasteful, “sun-kissed” highlights are in.

CEO Mike Jeffries wants to ensure that not only thin, beautiful people wear his clothes, but that only a certain style of assistant works in his stores. The staff guidebook was recently leaked to the press and contains some pretty strict rules that extend even beyond hairstyles.

Orange is out

For example, staff aren’t allowed unnatural skin complexions – such as sun-bed or orange spray tans. All types of caps, beanies and hair-scarves are banned, with the only exception being headgear worn for religious reasons.

So, watch out if you’re into rule-breaking, edgy hair and are wanting to work for Abercrombie & Fitch. Your career could just be cut short!

A New Year – a new look?

Well, Christmas is behind us. The Spring / Summer Next catalogue’s already arrived and everyone’s talking about a new start for 2013. Have you thought about changing how your hair looks?

Those faithful straightening irons may get a holiday because plaits could well be big news this year. This is one trend that can be used by nearly everyone.

Give yourself a great new look with plaits - the hot new hairstyling trend for Spring / Summer 2013!
One famous name riding the latest styling wave is X-Factor stylist, Jamie Stevens. He’s already been weaving his magic on X-Factor contestant Ella Henderson on our TV screens and says:

“There’s no getting away from plaiting and braiding this season. Its emerged as a key trend on the Autumn and Winter catwalk at shows from Fendi, Mulberry and Pucci. They’re great – it’s an easy way to jazz up a hairstyle and so versatile with so many different types of textures and placement. Plaits can look young, edgy, classical or very romantic.”

Plaiting’s all about where its done and how its placed, says Jamie. You can wear a plait on its own or blend them with another hairstyle to give a unique look all your own. Jamie suggests:

“You can incorporate plaits into a whole other style – maybe into a topknot to create a different texture and you can even plait within your plaits, for example plaiting each strand of a 3 strand plait, before plaiting them together!” suggested Jamie.

“The best thing is, plaiting’s now all about looking undone, so you don’t have to worry about making it look too perfect and its an easy way to change up your style from day to evening”.

it’s not blonde – its not brown. its bronde!

If you want to add a highlight to brown hair but don't want to go blonde - ask Edge Mobile Hair about going brond!

Do you have darker hair and would love a new look this season but want to keep your basic colour? This may be the answer for you. Why not get right on trend and go Bronde!

Bronde is a technique that leaves your existing shade in place but adds bold highlights that are a much lighter colour that creates a shimmering, golden effect. You’ll see bronde everywhere with A-listers like Natalie Portman, Jennifer Aniston and Jenny Lopez all sporting bronde hairstyles.

The bronde look is created by adding foil highlights – you only need partial foils to create the look, but remember you may also want to adjust your base hair colour to get the full effect. It’s an easy way to change your style without a radical makeover.

Why not give me a call to talk about a bronde look for you?

Cycletta – Tatton Park event

Rory Noble from Cycletta, sponsored by SkyRide in support of Macmillan Cancer Support got in touch with me recently. He was organising a ladies cycling event and wondered if Edge Hair would help.

Edge Hair was asked to help support Cycletta, the ladies cycling event, a charity supported by SkyRide.

You bet I would – I was really pleased to support this charity and to be involved in such a great event!

It all took place at Tatton Park, Cheshire last Sunday, 2nd October and involved riders from all across the north of the UK. The idea was after their gruelling ride, they’d be pampered with a complimentary beauty treatment, including massage, nails and to get rid of the dreaded “helmet hair”.

The early start and the loss of my Sunday beauty sleep was all worthwhile when I saw how hard all the competitors had ridden – and to see their faces after the treatment.

Take a look over the page to see some more images of the event!
