straight talking. Cocochoco!

cocochocho Brazilian keratin treatment to detox and give life to your hair

Everyone loves healthy smooth, celebrity-glamorous hair. We probably worry about our hair than we do what we eat. But all those products and heat treatments carry a high cost – and not just at the till!

intensive care – for your hair!

Over time, your hair is weighed down and clogged up by the layers of processing. Oh for a good detox to get our hair’s natural beauty back again! This is the 911 call for your hair, check in the perfect hair detox that works perfectly – no matter how processed, coloured or damaged your hair might be.

OK, this is starting to sound like one of those annoying American hair adverts on TV. But I tell you what, a good Brazilian Keratin treatment, Brazilian blow-dry, whatever you’ve heard it called, works. And none works better then the world leading product, CocoChoco Keratin.

Wow – how much?

Sure, its not cheap, but this is the top, premium product containing only natural non-toxic elements. There is nothing in it to damage your hair, no formaldehydes, parabens or sulphates. this is special – and you know this will be the best your hair has been right from the first treatment.

The good news is, each treatment lasts up to four months. It will be pay for itself every time you look in the mirror. And you’ll be doing that a lot!

So what happens to do this?

Well, we book a consultation. This is like any other check up any good hairdresser would do before changing your hair with something new. The right product will be selected, a skin test if its your first time, you make an appointment and get ready for a pampering.

At first you just think its a shampoo treatment, but its has to be washed in to your hair before it gets to work cleansing, detoxifying, nourishing and transforming your hair. Once its been absorbed – its not a quick session, this is what your paying for along with the product itself, finally, a little gentle straightening to get your hair ready for its new life. And that’s it.

During the time its active – which as I said is up to 4 months on average, all you need do is shampoo it properly and light straightening to remove any kinking from sleep, etc.

who can I ask to do this?

As with any treatment for your hair, a professional has been trained to do it properly. That is particularly the case with any corrective work. Cocochoco train and support their professional community exceptionally well. Its not a cheap five-minute fix, so why risk your hair and your money using someone who you don’t trust or without Brazilian Keratin specific experience?

I’m a fully trained, certified and insured Cocochoco Professional. all professionals like me will be happy to show their qualifications.

Teaching style – at Macclesfield College!

Here we are in March and already the new year’s been an exciting one. From a student at college last year learning how to teach, to actually teaching students at Macclesfield College!

The salon at Macclesfield college. I'm lecturing to level 2 and level 3 students here!

I’m spending a couple of days every week teaching NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 hairdressing students. The opportunity to pass on a lifetime’s worth of skills to two different levels is sometimes challenging, but its great to see new talent entering the profession.

And its not just school leavers, either. Many students are returning to hairdressing studies to refresh older skills or are maybe looking to start a new, worthwhile career. Teaching such a mix of students, ages and abilities is an education in itself!

I would suggest anyone who wants to do something creative and different thinks about returning to college to train for a new career. The tutors are like me and offer real life skills, many run their own businesses so the techniques you learn are right up to date and on-trend.

The students gain valuable commercial experience and people skills by working in our real salon. That makes them all the more employable or even ready to go freelance.

We also get presentations from the leading product manufacturers – and this is a great way for both students and tutors to keep up there at the cutting edge of hairdressing!

My current clients needn’t worry – I’m doing this alongside my normal business, it helps me offer a better service as well as giving me to chance to pass on my skills. As I say, It has been quite a year. And its only March!

A New Year – a new look?

Well, Christmas is behind us. The Spring / Summer Next catalogue’s already arrived and everyone’s talking about a new start for 2013. Have you thought about changing how your hair looks?

Those faithful straightening irons may get a holiday because plaits could well be big news this year. This is one trend that can be used by nearly everyone.

Give yourself a great new look with plaits - the hot new hairstyling trend for Spring / Summer 2013!
One famous name riding the latest styling wave is X-Factor stylist, Jamie Stevens. He’s already been weaving his magic on X-Factor contestant Ella Henderson on our TV screens and says:

“There’s no getting away from plaiting and braiding this season. Its emerged as a key trend on the Autumn and Winter catwalk at shows from Fendi, Mulberry and Pucci. They’re great – it’s an easy way to jazz up a hairstyle and so versatile with so many different types of textures and placement. Plaits can look young, edgy, classical or very romantic.”

Plaiting’s all about where its done and how its placed, says Jamie. You can wear a plait on its own or blend them with another hairstyle to give a unique look all your own. Jamie suggests:

“You can incorporate plaits into a whole other style – maybe into a topknot to create a different texture and you can even plait within your plaits, for example plaiting each strand of a 3 strand plait, before plaiting them together!” suggested Jamie.

“The best thing is, plaiting’s now all about looking undone, so you don’t have to worry about making it look too perfect and its an easy way to change up your style from day to evening”.

I’ve got it – VTCT Certification!

VTCT Certification for Edge hair's Jan Robinson!

Well the last two years have been quite a challenge – trying to fit running a growing business around losing two days each week at college, but it’s all been worth it as I’ve got my VTCT qualification!

So what’s VTCT all about – and if you’d asked me that two years ago, I probably wouldn’t know either. But VTCT is essential if I want to pass on my skills to anyone joining the profession. It lets me assess people’s work and give guidance and advice.

I feel it’s vital to pass on life-skills – otherwise young hairdressers will find its quite a tough journey. The time I spent has benefited me too, as it’s made me really think about how I do the things I do.

To reach this point, I had to spend 12 months gaining NVQ Level 3 in Advanced Level Hairdressing and spent a lot of time around young students, even teaching sessions – quite an education in itself!

I’m planning to spend some time at colleges and salons assessing trainees by fitting this around my hairdressing, which is still the main focus of my work.

I would recommend that anyone looking for a career in hairdressing thinks seriously about getting the right qualifications, as it’s a really rewarding and creative career. Thanks so much to South Cheshire College for getting me to this point.

it’s not blonde – its not brown. its bronde!

If you want to add a highlight to brown hair but don't want to go blonde - ask Edge Mobile Hair about going brond!

Do you have darker hair and would love a new look this season but want to keep your basic colour? This may be the answer for you. Why not get right on trend and go Bronde!

Bronde is a technique that leaves your existing shade in place but adds bold highlights that are a much lighter colour that creates a shimmering, golden effect. You’ll see bronde everywhere with A-listers like Natalie Portman, Jennifer Aniston and Jenny Lopez all sporting bronde hairstyles.

The bronde look is created by adding foil highlights – you only need partial foils to create the look, but remember you may also want to adjust your base hair colour to get the full effect. It’s an easy way to change your style without a radical makeover.

Why not give me a call to talk about a bronde look for you?
