I’ve got it – VTCT Certification!

VTCT Certification for Edge hair's Jan Robinson!

Well the last two years have been quite a challenge – trying to fit running a growing business around losing two days each week at college, but it’s all been worth it as I’ve got my VTCT qualification!

So what’s VTCT all about – and if you’d asked me that two years ago, I probably wouldn’t know either. But VTCT is essential if I want to pass on my skills to anyone joining the profession. It lets me assess people’s work and give guidance and advice.

I feel it’s vital to pass on life-skills – otherwise young hairdressers will find its quite a tough journey. The time I spent has benefited me too, as it’s made me really think about how I do the things I do.

To reach this point, I had to spend 12 months gaining NVQ Level 3 in Advanced Level Hairdressing and spent a lot of time around young students, even teaching sessions – quite an education in itself!

I’m planning to spend some time at colleges and salons assessing trainees by fitting this around my hairdressing, which is still the main focus of my work.

I would recommend that anyone looking for a career in hairdressing thinks seriously about getting the right qualifications, as it’s a really rewarding and creative career. Thanks so much to South Cheshire College for getting me to this point.

it’s not blonde – its not brown. its bronde!

If you want to add a highlight to brown hair but don't want to go blonde - ask Edge Mobile Hair about going brond!

Do you have darker hair and would love a new look this season but want to keep your basic colour? This may be the answer for you. Why not get right on trend and go Bronde!

Bronde is a technique that leaves your existing shade in place but adds bold highlights that are a much lighter colour that creates a shimmering, golden effect. You’ll see bronde everywhere with A-listers like Natalie Portman, Jennifer Aniston and Jenny Lopez all sporting bronde hairstyles.

The bronde look is created by adding foil highlights – you only need partial foils to create the look, but remember you may also want to adjust your base hair colour to get the full effect. It’s an easy way to change your style without a radical makeover.

Why not give me a call to talk about a bronde look for you?

latest offer – as seen on my Facebook page!

why not take me up on this great edge hair offer?

Yes, its true! I’m beginning the New Year with a great offer.

Get three of your friends to book appointments – they don’t have to be at the same time, don’t worry! You get your treatment free, as long as its not more expensive than what your friends have had done.

For example, if two friends book a colour and one has a cut. You can have a colour or a cut for free.

Or , if they all just book a cut each, then you get a cut for free, too!

In other words you get any treatment your friends chose for free. Now that’s a great start to the year!

By the way, go and take a look at my new Facebook page, I’d love to know what you think of it!

Cycletta – Tatton Park event

Rory Noble from Cycletta, sponsored by SkyRide in support of Macmillan Cancer Support got in touch with me recently. He was organising a ladies cycling event and wondered if Edge Hair would help.

Edge Hair was asked to help support Cycletta, the ladies cycling event, a charity supported by SkyRide.

You bet I would – I was really pleased to support this charity and to be involved in such a great event!

It all took place at Tatton Park, Cheshire last Sunday, 2nd October and involved riders from all across the north of the UK. The idea was after their gruelling ride, they’d be pampered with a complimentary beauty treatment, including massage, nails and to get rid of the dreaded “helmet hair”.

The early start and the loss of my Sunday beauty sleep was all worthwhile when I saw how hard all the competitors had ridden – and to see their faces after the treatment.

Take a look over the page to see some more images of the event!
